after graduating i joined the marines along with richard christenbury in july of 1960 went to boot camp in parris island. after graduating from boot camp chris and i were seperated and went different ways , chris to norfolk and me to camp lejune as an infantryman. was in cuba during the missle chrisis. got out of active service in 1964 and spent two years in reserves.met my wife, Joy McKee class of 64 at west meck. married sept 1966 still married and have 3 children. went to work for pilot freight carriers in 1964 , then to young blood truck lines then to Consolidated Freight Ways in 1968. i retired dec 1998 as terminal manager for them in Greensboro . I left charlotte in 1973 and havent been back since.i moved to north myrtle beach in 1999 and opened a bar and grill with my sister Debbie Hilton. debbie has been married to Richard Breyare for years. the bar and grill was called Callie Bakers Roadhouse, named after our grandmother. a first generation Americian whos parents came from Ireland. I did that for 7 years and gave it up (too much work).
Bored out of my mind with nothing to do, i finally went to work at the cherry grove fishing pier. Thats a really hard job, i get to talk about fishing all the time. when not at the pier, im usually on my boat fishing in the little river inlet or some other place.Yeah, i know what a hard life.
life and god has been good to us, both Joy and myself were life long presbyterians, but now attend Barefoot Community Church in Ocean Drive. i love it , where else can you attend church in shorts and flip flops and not be out of place. |

No school stories to tell, I was one of the shy ones always out of the way, and not a part of any thing at the school, other than playing on the baseball team. |
